Most classes are being held in online or hybrid formats this fall, so we've adjusted our library instruction to better fit the online environment. The Library is now providing Synchronous Library Instruction for synchronous online or hybrid classes, Meet with a Librarian consultations for individuals or small groups, and embedded Subject Guides in Canvas for convenient, point-of-need research help.

Synchronous Library Instruction sessions are held online during your regularly scheduled class time. Please provide at least two weeks’ notice so we can prepare a session tailored to your research assignment. We recommend students have a research assignment because these sessions are designed to be interactive, which is why they are only available synchronously. Instructors are required to attend instruction sessions.

Meet with a Librarian appointments are half-hour virtual consultations where students receive research help from a librarian either 1-on-1 or with a small group. If you would like to offer extra credit or require students to attend a consultation, you can have students submit their consultation follow-up email as proof of attendance.

Subject Guides function as a comprehensive research hub for your students. Content includes a list of relevant databases, research tips and tutorials, and citation information, as well as a chat box for immediate research assistance during library hours. Guides are added to courses within one week of receiving a request.

If you have questions or specific information you would like covered in students' Meet with a Librarian appointments, let us know in the Additional Comments. Your subject librarian will follow up with you to answer any questions or provide updates.
